Steampunk Spider
A fully modeled and textured 3D steampunk spider that reassembles an arachnid into something metallic and sharp — built from the mechanical language of springs, gears, nails, and scissors.
This project reimagines a spider as a piece of intricate metalwork, delving into the mechanical nature of insects. I drew the design language directly from everyday hardware — springs, gears, nails, and scissors — translating those forms into a creature that reads as both organic and engineered.
I built the spider in 3D from start to finish, using Autodesk Maya for the model, Adobe Substance 3D Painter for texturing, and RenderMan for final rendering. The result is a detailed hero asset explored across a range of material treatments, from clean renders that show the underlying form to richly textured metal-and-patina finishes.
